Word came through that a recent firmware rollout for Bitmain's Antminer rigs has made a notable change: the microUSB port on the control board is now disabled. This affects several Bitcoin ASIC models currently in circulation. The S19k Pro saw the shift first, followed by the S21 and S21 Pro getting the same treatment. Interesting move considering the port's role in device management and troubleshooting. Whether this is a strategic call or a technical necessity remains unclear, but it's definitely something miners running these machines need to be aware of when planning their operations.

Here we go again, Bitmain causing trouble... Disabling USB ports? Are they trying to lock us out?
It's the same old story, every firmware upgrade secretly adds restrictions.
If the S21 is like this, then my machine... is a bit worrying.

Haha, Ant is at it again, disabling micro USB directly? I mentioned three years ago that Bitmain would eventually take this step, and now it's finally happening. They say it's for security, and I believe it, after all, the cyclical theory of history tells me that each firmware update hints at a major event coming. The S19k Pro, S21, and S21 Pro are all on board. Hey, these guys are just paying tuition, after all, we are long-term dreamers and don't mind a few months of tinkering.

Disable USB ports? Is Bitmain trying to force miners to upgrade or is there a genuine technical reason? I'm a bit confused.

Ant is causing trouble again... Disabling USB ports? Are they trying to force us to stick a film on the hardware?

Disable USB ports on mining machines? This is to prevent us from saving ourselves, a typical "I won't let you touch" tactic.
