Doha, Qatar: The General Directorate of Endowments at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has announced the renewal and expansion of its strategic partnership with the Qatar Diabetes Association (QDA). This initiative aims to provide vital support to children living with diabetes, further cementing the Directorate’s commitment to directing endowment funds toward those most in need.
The announcement was made during a press conference held at the Awqaf headquarters, where both organisations highlighted the tangible impact of their ongoing collaboration and outlined future mechanisms to enhance healthcare access for pediatric patients.
Eng. Hassan bin Abdullah Al-Marzouqi, Director General of Endowments, emphasised the significance of the partnership.“We take great pride in our strong relationship with the Qatar Diabetes Association. This collaboration is rooted in a shared vision to serve patients in need, aligning with the wishes of our generous donors who have dedicated their endowments to support vulnerable groups and alleviate their suffering,” Al-Marzouqi stated.
He noted that the Health Care Endowment Fund has provided direct support to secure essential medical supplies, significantly improving the quality of life for children and helping families manage their children’s health with greater ease and security.
Children with diabetes face daily challenges, including constant blood glucose monitoring and the use of specialised medical equipment. These requirements often impose both financial and psychological burdens on families. Providing this technology is not merely a medical necessity but a critical step in allowing these children to engage in school and social activities with confidence.
Dr. Abdullah Al-Hamaq, Executive Director of the Qatar Diabetes Association, lauded the support from Awqaf, describing it as a pillar for the association’s ability to provide cutting-edge medical technology.
“The provision of non-invasive glucose monitoring systems and insulin pump supplies is transformative,” Dr. Al-Hamaq explained.“These technologies allow for better blood sugar control, reduce potential complications, and significantly ease the daily burden on both the children and their families.”
The partnership has already yielded significant results, including: 125 children provided with non-invasive blood glucose monitoring systems and 21 children supplied with essential insulin pump accessories. Dr. Al-Hamaq expressed his deep gratitude to the donors, whose contributions embody the values of social solidarity.
The Health Care Endowment Fund is one of the specialised funds under the General Directorate of Awqaf. It focuses on channeling endowment proceeds into medical and therapeutic services for deserving individuals. Through strategic partnerships with healthcare institutions and specialised associations, the fund ensures the sustainability of health support, creating a lasting positive impact on the community.
