The Canadian stock market continues to hit record highs at closing

Canada’s S&P/TSX Composite Index closed up 0.59%, at 34,541.27 points, breaking the previous record high of 34,501.96 points set on February 26. The small-cap index rose 0.68%, closing at 1,471.67 points, marking its third consecutive day of record high closes. Mexico’s IPC Index fell 1.09%, to 70,629.75 points. The Mexican peso depreciated 0.51% against the US dollar, at 17.3147 pesos. Brazil’s Bovespa Index rose 0.11%, to 189,000 points, after three consecutive days of retreat from its record high. The Brazilian real fell 0.96% against the US dollar, to 5.1749 reais. The Turkish lira declined 0.02% against the US dollar, to 43.9497 lira, after dropping to 43.9867 lira at 06:19 Beijing time. The South African rand depreciated 1.07% against the US dollar, to 16.1088 rand, after opening lower with a gap, it hit a daily low of 16.2105 rand at 15:18.
