The European Banking Authority (EBA) announced that the temporary transitional exemption for Crypto Asset Service Providers (CASPs) under the Payment Services Directive PSD2 officially ended on March 2. From now on, CASPs involved in electronic money token (EMT) payments or transfers must obtain a PSD2 payment institution or electronic money institution license, or they must immediately cease related payment services. The EBA stated that institutions approved under PSD2 can operate normally; institutions under review can continue to provide services under certain restrictions (such as not adding new customers or conducting marketing); and those that have not submitted applications or are non-compliant must immediately terminate payment activities. More than 100 CASPs have already submitted or inquired about PSD2 license applications with regulatory authorities. (Crowdfund Insider)
