"Clear Financial Network, Protecting Safe Consumption" Postal Savings Bank Credit Card Center Holds 3·15 Financial Consumer Protection in Rural Areas Campaign
Source: Xinhua Finance and Economics
To deeply practice the political and people-oriented nature of financial work and effectively improve financial literacy among rural residents, on the occasion of the “3.15” Financial Consumer Rights Protection Education and Publicity Campaign, Postal Savings Bank of China Credit Card Center, in collaboration with the Beijing Financial Consumer Protection Volunteer Service Team, successfully held a special event titled “3.15 Financial Consumer Rights Protection into Rural Areas” on March 12 at the Dongzhuanghe Village Committee, Taishitun Town, Miyun District, Beijing.
This event, themed “Clear Financial Networks, Protecting Peace of Mind in Consumption,” focused on key groups such as rural residents, especially middle-aged and elderly people, farmers, and low-income households within villages. Through down-to-earth and warm promotional methods, practical financial knowledge was brought directly to the community, strengthening the rural financial security line.
Precisely meeting needs, small-scale events achieve big results
Rural areas are key regions for financial consumer protection promotion. Middle-aged and elderly villagers and farmers, due to relatively limited financial knowledge, are vulnerable to telecom and online scams and illegal financial activities. The Postal Savings Bank of China Credit Card Center precisely tailored small-scale events to meet rural demands, ensuring accurate dissemination of information and in-depth communication, effectively enhancing publicity results and truly achieving “small events, big impact.”
At the start of the event, a loudspeaker in the village announced the event theme and consumer protection slogans clearly, conveying financial warmth through local dialects and customs, making the concept of “Clear Financial Networks, Protecting Peace of Mind in Consumption” deeply rooted in people’s hearts, attracting nearby villagers to participate actively.
Talking about finance in simple words, practical knowledge delivered to your doorstep
Staff from the Credit Card Center and the Beijing Financial Consumer Protection Volunteer Service Team acted as “financial educators,” combining the realities of rural life, abandoning complex financial jargon, and using plain, understandable language to conduct themed presentations.
The focus was on basic credit card usage tips, including application, activation, safe use, and bill inquiries, addressing common confusions among villagers. To combat prevalent telecom and online scams, illegal fundraising, and other financial crimes, staff used typical case studies to analyze scam tactics, reminding villagers to remember the principles of “not trusting easily, not revealing information, and not transferring money.” Additionally, they promoted official financial service channels, guiding residents to handle financial transactions through legitimate platforms and stay away from illegal financial intermediaries.
During the presentation, staff distributed illustrated, easy-to-understand promotional materials for villagers to review and learn at any time, ensuring financial knowledge truly “sticks” and is put into practice.
Face-to-face Q&A, making villagers feel more secure
The Q&A session was lively, with villagers eagerly raising their hands to ask questions about personal credit reports, credit card repayment, verifying unknown calls, and financial service procedures. Staff answered patiently and thoroughly, providing one-on-one professional guidance, teaching villagers how to identify false financial information and protect their financial rights, and guiding them to establish correct financial consumption concepts, enhancing their awareness of financial safety and self-protection.
“Before, I was worried about misusing my credit card or falling for scams over the phone. After listening to the presentation and asking questions, I feel much more at ease. This kind of activity is so thoughtful!” said one participating villager.
This financial consumer protection activity into rural areas is a vivid practice of the Postal Savings Bank of China Credit Card Center’s commitment to inclusive finance and social responsibility. By bringing practical financial knowledge directly to villagers’ doorsteps, the event effectively improved risk prevention capabilities among key groups such as middle-aged and elderly residents and farmers, safeguarding their “money bags” with tangible actions.
Next, the Postal Savings Bank of China Credit Card Center will continue to focus on the financial needs of urban and rural residents, leveraging the strength of the Beijing Financial Consumer Protection Volunteer Service Team, innovating publicity methods, enriching content, and promoting financial knowledge into fields and into people’s lives. This will help create a clean and safe financial environment and inject solid financial support into rural revitalization.
