On March 20th, the Jiangsu Provincial Development and Reform Commission organized a symposium with key industry associations. The purpose of this meeting was to analyze and assess the economic situation across the province, exchange development status and challenges faced by various industries in the first quarter, and make judgments on the next phase of development and propose policy recommendations. The meeting was hosted by Lin Kang, Deputy Director of the Provincial Development and Reform Commission, with relevant leaders from the Industrial Department, Comprehensive Department, and Economic and Trade Department of the Provincial Development and Reform Commission. Leaders from key industry associations including the Jiangsu Steel Industry Association, Jiangsu Textile Industry Association, Jiangsu Semiconductor Industry Association, Jiangsu Photovoltaic Industry Association, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), and Jiangsu Real Estate Industry Association attended the meeting. Jiang Li, Secretary General of the Jiangsu Steel Association, reported to the attending leaders on the operation of the national steel industry since the beginning of this year from three dimensions: supply, demand, and foreign trade. She analyzed the industry development trends and the difficulties faced, and proposed two response strategies centered around four core areas: “structural optimization, risk control, innovation-driven, and low-carbon transformation.” The first is to focus on structural optimization and risk control to strengthen the foundation of industry development, including optimizing industrial layout, deepening structural adjustments, ensuring resource security, expanding the international landscape, strengthening risk management, and controlling physical metal resources. The second is to focus on innovation-driven and low-carbon transformation to cultivate new productive forces in the industry, including tackling core technologies, empowering intelligent manufacturing, targeting the “dual carbon” goals, promoting green transformation across the entire supply chain, responding to policy guidance, and optimizing development pathways.
