#Trump Files for Bitcoin ETF
Trump Media & Technology Group, owned by Donald Trump, has filed for a Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) called the Truth Social Bitcoin ETF. This ETF aims to track Bitcoin's price performance and will be custodied by (link unavailable), which will also act as the prime execution agent and liquidity provider. The ETF is expected to trade on NYSE Arca, pending approval from the SEC.
The filing reveals some key details about the ETF's structure. Yorkville America Digital will sponsor the ETF, and the launch is contingent on the effectiveness of the registration statement and approval of a Form 19b-4 filing with the SEC. However, the filing also highlights potential conflicts of interest, as the ETF's sponsor and custodian may take positions in Bitcoin ahead of the fund.
It's worth noting that this move is part of Trump's broader crypto endeavors. Trump Media & Technology Group recently unveiled a plan to allocate $2.5 billion to its corporate Bitcoin treasury, showcasing its growing interest in digital assets. If approved, the Truth Social Bitcoin ETF would be the first Bitcoin ETF directly tied to a former US President's media platform.
