Let’s start with the conclusion: #Shamate (#杀马特 ) is a cult meme — the Chinese version of Milady.
This Shamate meme is one of my personal favorites. It’s just something I like — kind of like #Hakimi , which already has a strong community base and is considered an unofficial BSC meme. If Hakimi gains traction on Alpha, this one could also benefit.
#Hakimi (#哈基米)spreads mainly through voice and music remixes.
#Shamate (#杀马特 )spreads through its iconic blue (or colorful) spiky hairstyle and unique music style from the Shamate era.
Both have strong viral potential.
Today, I noticed that the community customized a blue spiky hairstyle avatar for big inflencer “Ji Ge”, and he actually responded! He even said that BSC needs more cult-style tokens — that kind of meme diversity would enrich the whole BSC culture.
I totally agree!
BSC memes shouldn’t only revolve around CZ (@cz_) or Heyi (@heyi) and a few official accounts. There should be more community-driven, organically-grown memes. I hope the official side can occasionally recognize and support such movements — that would make the BSC meme ecosystem much healthier.
Actually, Shamate is quite similar to #Milady. Many influencers, like “Calm Bro,” are already using Milady avatars. It has a long-standing cultural evolution and aesthetic history.
The difference is that the Chinese-speaking world didn’t really have a mature meme culture before, but this time, BSC could be a strong catalyst. Hopefully, some “meme master” (someone who really understands meme culture and can tell the story vividly) will dig up and retell the Shamate story arc, making it blow up again through BSC.
When Milady went viral, it was because several hit articles explored its origins, evolution, and cultural depth.
A good meme grows naturally —
I believe in #Shamate (#杀马特 )
