#GateCEO2025YearEndOpenLetter In 2025, Gate firmly established itself as a true “Next Generation Crypto Exchange”, completing its transformation from a traditional trading platform into a comprehensive Web3 ecosystem. The year was defined by a major global rebranding, record-breaking trading volumes, and the successful launch of Gate’s own Layer 2 infrastructure. These milestones marked a decisive shift toward long-term ecosystem building rather than short-term growth.
Throughout 2025, Gate consistently ranked as the world’s second-largest spot exchange by 24-hour trading volume and remained within the top three globally for futures trading. This market leadership was supported by rapid user growth. By July 2025, Gate officially surpassed 30 million registered users, driven by a strong 22% year-over-year growth rate. At the same time, Gate maintained the industry’s most diverse asset offering, listing more than 3,800 cryptocurrencies and supporting over 2,900 trading pairs, reinforcing its position as a global liquidity hub.
On the technical front, 2025 marked a major infrastructure breakthrough with the launch of Gate Layer, an EVM-compatible Layer 2 network capable of processing more than 5,700 transactions per second. GateToken (GT) was designated as the native gas token, embedding GT deeply into the network’s economic model. Gate also enhanced its Proof of Reserves framework by integrating zero-knowledge proofs and Merkle-tree verification, maintaining reserve ratios consistently above 123%, with total assets exceeding $12 billion. In parallel, system upgrades reduced trading latency by over 50%, significantly improving performance for institutional and high-frequency traders.
2025 was also a year of global brand elevation and strategic partnerships. Gate officially transitioned to the Gate.com domain, unifying its global identity under a cleaner and more recognizable brand. High-profile partnerships with Oracle Red Bull Racing (Formula 1) and Inter Milan goalkeeper Yann Sommer expanded Gate’s visibility beyond crypto-native audiences. The Red Bull NFT collaboration alone generated more than one million mints, demonstrating Gate’s growing influence in digital culture. On the regulatory side, Gate strengthened its compliance footprint by securing and expanding licenses across Dubai, Europe, Australia, and Japan, including the acquisition of Coin Master to accelerate its Japanese market entry.
Looking ahead to 2026, Founder Dr. Han has defined the core mission as “connecting the entire digital economy.” A central pillar of this vision is the creation of a unified Gate App, where centralized exchange services and decentralized Web3 tools coexist seamlessly. The goal is to make Web3 interactions effectively invisible, allowing everyday users to manage assets, make payments, and interact with on-chain applications without technical friction.
Artificial intelligence will play a critical role in Gate’s 2026 roadmap. The platform plans to introduce autonomous AI trading agents capable of managing portfolios, executing complex multi-step strategies, and providing personalized risk controls. To ensure safety and reliability, Gate will establish internal AI Quality Control councils to validate the accuracy, security, and ethical use of these autonomous systems.
Institutional adoption and real-world asset integration will also accelerate in 2026. Gate aims to deepen support for tokenized real-world assets (RWA) such as U.S. Treasury bills and private credit, enabling users to earn real yield backed by traditional financial instruments. At the same time, Gate Pay and institutional custody solutions will expand to support corporate treasuries and large-scale digital settlements, bridging the gap between crypto infrastructure and traditional finance.
Within this broader ecosystem, GateToken (GT) is undergoing a fundamental evolution. By the end of 2025, more than 60% of GT’s original supply had already been burned, reinforcing a strong deflationary foundation. In 2026, GT burning will increasingly depend on Gate Layer network activity and platform revenue, directly linking token scarcity to real ecosystem usage.
GT’s utility has expanded far beyond fee discounts and VIP benefits. It now serves as the exclusive gas token for Gate Layer, a staking asset for network security, and a core payment unit within the emerging AI agent economy. As developers, decentralized applications, and autonomous agents migrate to Gate Layer, transactional demand for GT is expected to scale with network growth.
As of January 2026, GT is showing a resilient market structure supported by multiple long-term catalysts. Continued buyback-and-burn mechanisms, expanding Layer 2 adoption, and deeper integration into AI and institutional workflows create sustained deflationary pressure. If developer adoption on Gate Layer accelerates faster than competing networks, GT may experience a valuation re-rating, shifting market perception from a traditional exchange token toward a high-performance Layer 2 asset.
Together, these developments position Gate not just as a trading platform, but as a foundational infrastructure provider for the next phase of the digital economy—where centralized liquidity, decentralized finance, artificial intelligence, and real-world assets converge into a single, integrated ecosystem.
