Franklin Templeton: Digital Wallets to Become the Home of All Personal Assets - Crypto Economy
TL;DR
Franklin Templeton expects digital wallets to become the main hub for personal asset management in the future. The firm presented its vision at the Ondo Summit in New York, where executives from Franklin Templeton, Fidelity, State Street, and WisdomTree agreed that tokenization infrastructure is already functional and extends beyond initial trials.
Sandy Kaul, head of innovation at Franklin Templeton, stated that all financial assets—stocks, bonds, funds, and other instruments—will be stored and managed through tokenized wallets. According to Kaul, these wallets will represent the totality of people’s assets.

The Future of Personal Finance
Cynthia Lo Bessette from Fidelity said that tokenizing an asset on the blockchain is the easiest part; the current challenge is building an ecosystem that generates utility for users. Kim Hochfeld from State Street explained that much of the current work focuses on internal and client education, and that widespread adoption of tokenized products has not yet been observed.
The panel highlighted that tokenized funds could improve liquidity and collateral management. Hochfeld illustrated this with the UK mini-budget crisis in 2022, when traditional fund redemptions caused a liquidity spiral. According to the analysis, tokenized funds could have acted as instant collateral and mitigated the impact.
Will Peck from WisdomTree compared the adoption of tokenized products to the launch of ETFs three decades ago, noting that adoption will be driven by product efficiency and utility, not by name. New developments in universal liquidity layers on blockchain will allow high accessibility, hyper-personalized portfolios, and integrated operations across jurisdictions.

Franklin Templeton: Accessibility and Seamless Asset Management
Franklin Templeton ensures that the user experience will be smooth and frictionless, with assets fully managed in digital wallets. Fidelity, State Street, and WisdomTree agree that current infrastructure already allows experimentation with tokenized products, and that their adoption will expand gradually.
The financial sector is preparing for the transition to a “wallet-native” model, where digital wallets function as the central hub for all users’ financial assets, including both traditional and tokenized investments, setting a new standard for the market
