Bill Gates: Warren Buffett invited me to lunch at McDonald's... and when it was time to pay, he pulled out "discount coupons" from his pocket.

Although Bill Gates and Warren Buffett are among the richest men in the world, one secret to their long friendship isn't billion-dollar deals, but a simple table inside McDonald's. And discount coupons for fast food.

Gates recounts a funny incident involving him and Buffett during a visit to Hong Kong, when they decided to have lunch at McDonald's. According to the 2017 annual "Gates Notes" letter, dedicated to Buffett, Gates wrote: I remember the laugh we shared when we traveled together to Hong Kong and decided to eat at McDonald's. Buffett offered to pay, then he pulled out "discount coupons" from his pocket. It reminded us of his constant appreciation for winning deals.

Despite their enormous wealth, the two men value simple things in life. Buffett is known for his modest lifestyle; he regularly visits McDonald's and often chooses economical breakfast meals.
