This time at Hong Kong Consensus, I had the chance to join several deep discussions around AI and Web3 — and honestly, the energy felt different.

In the past, conversations about these topics often felt abstract. There were big visions, bold concepts, and futuristic ideas — but when it came to real-life application, everything seemed a bit far away. This time, however, the focus was much more grounded. Most speakers talked about products and systems that are already live. They openly shared what’s working, what’s not, and which ideas still need real-world testing before they can scale.
What stood out to me the most was the shift in mindset. The room wasn’t obsessed with being “the most innovative” or “the flashiest.” Instead, the core questions were simple and practical:
Is it easy to use?
Does it actually reduce friction for users?
Or does it just look impressive on the surface?
Interestingly, the most fundamental principles kept coming up again and again — clear communication, manageable risk disclosure, simple processes, and delivering information without overwhelming people. These may sound basic, but they’re often the real deciding factors between hype and real adoption.
Personally, I appreciate this more mature pace. Growth is important, innovation is necessary — but sometimes slowing down, refining, and focusing on usability can take the industry much further. In the long run, execution and practicality matter far more than polished narratives.
