🇺🇸 Control over stablecoin issuers in the USA.

The US Department of the Treasury (FinCEN and OFAC ) are preparing new rules for stablecoin issuers (such as #USDT and #USDC).

The essence is simple: Companies must operate like regular financial institutions – monitor suspicious transactions, block payments, and report to authorities (❗️) about criminal activity. Stablecoin issuers are required to detect money laundering and sanctions violations, and be able to freeze and reject suspicious transactions.

This is part of the implementation of the GENIUS law, passed a year ago. The new requirements are expected to come into effect by 2027.
