That day, my friend explained to me the extreme performance of PoW and PoS. PoS requires bandwidth to transmit identity information for Node verification, accounting for 80% of it. PoW does not require this. Therefore, theoretically, PoW can outperform PoS in terms of speed. Security goes without saying. Just look at the distribution of Sol's transaction types. Most are Vote transactions. In a total of over 5000 TPS, eighty percent are mutual votes between Nodes. The essence of the blockchain is a game of accounting rights. To be an accountant, one must first prove their eligibility. PoS achieves this through voting, while PoW proves it through their own Computing Power. Voting requires real-time bandwidth occupation, but PoW does not, as the computing power is obtained offline and does not require real-time approval from others via the network. In other words, it utilizes bandwidth much more efficiently. Both can be used to transmit transaction data itself, but PoS requires a large proportion to transmit voting information. From this perspective, I see more potential in PoW. To release a PoW Block, one must first solve the puzzle of the previous Block. Only by solving it can one qualify to release a new Block, which incurs costs and has value. If released randomly, it would be a waste. Therefore, those who solve it will follow the rules and not act randomly, as it goes against human nature. In PoW, no external recognition is needed; one just needs to solve the puzzle of the previous Block. This way, only transaction data itself is transmitted on-chain, without the need for voting information. The cost, however, is that the calculations consume a considerable amount of electrical resources. Furthermore, from another perspective, PoS is a closed system with the difficulty of entropy increase. PoW incentivizes external forces to maintain the system, constituting a continuous energy input process. In a PoS system, it either spirals upwards or drops to zero. As long as there is one person supporting it, PoW can persist. The new chips in PoS have no cost; as an old OG, one just needs to stake and do nothing else. This means there needs to be a continuous flow of people buying for the old OGs. When the PoS chain has advantages and can continue to attract attention, it's fine. However, if a new, more efficient one emerges, the old PoS is at risk. PoW is different; the chips are produced with external costs. There is no relationship with the old OGs - no matter how much one holds, without contributing to the network, one cannot obtain a new coin. The focus of the chain is survival, requiring the maximum incentive for people to maintain network order, which needs external energy. To put it bluntly, the older generation will age. Is PoS more friendly to new life, or is it PoW? Large Investors of PoS tokens need new blood to buy their free chips. The new chips in PoW have nothing to do with whether you are an old OG; you just need to work to earn. It's actually more fair and better for newcomers. And more sustainable. 😄 These are some musings for reference, but ultimately, one must believe in themselves to hold on.
