No longer limited to mobile devices: Rumors suggest AMD plans to launch the desktop "Gorgon Point" processor with AM5 socket in the second quarter of this year.
Tech News Home, February 24 — According to today’s report by technology media VideoCardz, AMD has confirmed that the Ryzen AI 400 series processors will not only target mobile platforms such as laptops and mini PCs but will also launch on desktop platforms in the second quarter of this year.
Here, Tech News Home quotes VideoCardz, stating that AMD recently provided a render image of the Ryzen AI 400 processors to partners and confirmed that this series is designed specifically for the PRO commercial market, featuring the AM5 socket. The original file was marked with a date in May of last year but was only digitized and uploaded a few days ago, indicating that AMD is accelerating preparations and finalizing materials for the product launch.
In terms of specifications, the Ryzen AI 400 processors based on the “Gorgon Point” architecture are not entirely new products but are updated versions of Strix Point and Krackan Point. Therefore, it is currently unclear whether the desktop Gorgon will include both of these or only one of them.
