Caixin Recently, Pop Mart (09992.HK) filed a lawsuit against leading 3D printer company Tuozhu Technology, drawing attention from public opinion and the capital market. The case involves sharing the LABUBU model on open-source community platforms, as well as disputes over whether users who “freely create LABUBU” through 3D printing and platforms that tacitly permit such behavior are infringing on rights. Currently, 3D printing technology is just beginning to enter household consumer scenarios and has not yet been widely adopted. The legal boundaries between personal manufacturing and commercialization are not clear.

Founded in Shenzhen in 2020, Tuozhu Technology is a consumer-grade 3D printing technology company mainly producing desktop 3D printers. The core members of the founding team come from DJI, a leading drone company. Recently, Pop Mart sued Tuozhu Technology and its two wholly owned subsidiaries for copyright infringement, with a court hearing scheduled for April 2.
