This is an article from Vida that made me think of my parents. They were born during China's economic boom, a time when gold was everywhere. Compared to them, we can only look on with envy, feeling the hardships of this era and wondering why they didn't buy houses or start businesses.

The next generation will look at us and be shocked, amazed at how many opportunities for social mobility we had—AI, blockchain, social media—but most people in this era are just feeling confused. Why are the benefits of this era only grasped by a very few?
Today, even fools know that AI is the trend and the future.
But less than 10% of the world's population is actually using AI, and fewer than 50 million people have access to top-tier AI. Most people are closing their eyes, ignoring the elephant in the room, even though they are fully aware that this elephant could charge at any moment and overturn everything.
At this moment, I understand my elders. Like most ordinary people, they are unable to enjoy the benefits of this era. Watching the waves of change, I am painfully aware that I am just an ordinary person struggling in a sea of suffering. No one is luckier than us—we live in a miraculous age. No one is more tragic than us. This is the best of times, and the worst of times.
The tide on the Qiantang River is coming in; today I realize who I am.
