Why in a certain environment are you immediately recognized as the easiest to bully?
Most people labeled as【easy to bully】are not identified at a glance, but rather tested and confirmed.
Generally, victims have some social trauma, leading to nervousness and sensitivity. So when faced with such tests, they tend to be in a tense and stressed state socially, which causes them to express their true words and actions, thereby being confirmed by the aggressor. This allows the bullying to continue without backlash.
The bully themselves may not necessarily understand psychology, but learn testing paradigms through naive observation of adult power dynamics in their native environment.
Common testing methods include the following:
1. Obedience Test
For example, giving the victim unreasonable commands like fetching water or buying cigarettes. If they do not refuse or ignore it, the demands are gradually escalated.
This defensive measure is to ignore, say you're busy, or tell them, "I'll do it this time, you do it next time."
2. Triangulation
Using fictitious opinions of others about the victim(, usually negative or biased), to measure the victim's emotional response. If the victim appears anxious or tense, it proves that using "unhappiness" can be used to manipulate or intimidate.
This defense is to ask, "Does he misunderstand me?" and suggest talking to him later, or question what his thoughts about me have to do with anything.
3. Delayed Response Test
Deliberately delay responding to urgent matters, observing if the victim will imagine offending someone and apologize or explain. If so, it indicates they are easily manipulated and bullied.
The defensive approach is to push for official matters immediately, saying "Hurry up, don’t delay official work." For personal matters, seek other channels to resolve, ignore him, and if he asks, say "I see you're busy," and handle it yourself.
4. Vague Command Test
During cooperation or communication, intentionally speak very vaguely to see if the victim will overstep and take on excessive responsibility. This is common among elders or minor leaders bullying newcomers.
The defense is to say "I can't clarify," and only do what is clear, ask repeatedly about other parts, annoy him. If he doesn't speak, do less, or ask around to make him look incompetent.
5. Debt Creation Test
Design scenarios where the victim is【forced to accept favors】, observing if they will abandon principles due to guilt. If they do, it proves they can be bullied with small favors and moral coercion. The next step is to create a bunch of petty rules to control them.
The defense is simple: refuse such forced favors, interrupt in the middle, or if you accept, give a small return the next day, like buying a milk tea, and tell him it's unnecessary in the future.
6. Emotional Temperature Test
Show excessive enthusiasm, then switch to cold indifference after a while, alternating between praise and avoidance, to see if the victim adjusts their behavior to gain approval.
The defense is not to overthink why the other is cold, maintain normal communication rhythm, ignore, and treat equally.
7. Memory Tampering Test
Fictitiously create details of shared experiences(, such as "You agreed last time"), to see if the victim doubts themselves, and apply pressure to make them admit to nonexistent memories.
The defense is to deny it, say "That didn't happen," and keep records and evidence of all work communications with such people.
