On March 2nd, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors held a special meeting regarding the U.S. and Israel’s military strikes on Iran. Chinese Permanent Representative to the IAEA Ambassador Li Song delivered a speech at the meeting. Li Song stated that China supports Iran and Russia’s call for a special meeting of the Board. The United States and Israel have once again launched military strikes against Iran, including attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities under IAEA safeguards, leading to a sudden escalation of tensions in the Middle East. China is highly concerned about these developments. China has always advocated respecting the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter and opposes the use of force or threats of force in international relations. The attacks by the U.S. and Israel during the Iran-U.S. negotiations are unacceptable; openly killing a sovereign country’s leader and inciting regime change are unacceptable. These actions severely violate Iran’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity, and trample on the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and basic norms of international relations. China firmly opposes and strongly condemns these acts. Iran’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity should be respected. China calls for an immediate halt to military actions, a swift return to dialogue and negotiations, and joint opposition to unilateral actions. The international community should send a clear and firm message to oppose the world reverting to jungle law. (CCTV News)
