NASA Said to Tap Boeing-Lockheed’s Vulcan for Top of Moon Rocket
NASA is reportedly planning to select United Launch Alliance (ULA) to provide a crucial component for future missions of its moon rocket, replacing hardware previously intended from Boeing Co. This decision comes as costs for the component had escalated to $2.8 billion. Boeing, which currently builds the core of NASA’s Space Launch System, also has a separate multi-billion-dollar contract for an upgraded version of the rocket.
