Vitalik: Privacy protection needs to be integrated throughout the entire stack. Hybrid networks and encrypted payments are the key foundations for AI agent privacy.
Deep Tide TechFlow News, March 8 — Vitalik posted on X platform that encryption privacy is crucial if you want to prevent revealing access pattern information during API calls. Even when using local AI agents, external observers can still gather a lot of user behavior data by analyzing search engine call records. He believes the primary solution is to use mixnets for calls, but this introduces the need to defend against DoS attacks, which in turn leads to a pay-per-call model. The default payment methods are often credit cards or privacy-unfriendly stablecoins, so true privacy protection ultimately still depends on encryption technology.
Vitalik also emphasizes that privacy protection must be considered from a full-stack perspective, with the local AI agent layer being especially critical. He compares it to anti-aging research: if 10 factors damage the body, fixing one can extend lifespan by 11%; fixing two extends it by 25%; fixing three extends it by 42%. The same super-additive compounding effect applies to data leak prevention measures.
