Abstract generation in progress

RTX is developing a new combined thermal/electric propulsion system for regional turboprop aircraft, aiming to significantly boost efficiency. This hybrid system, which can be retrofitted into existing aircraft, integrates a Pratt & Whitney turboprop engine with a Collins Aerospace electric motor, allowing both to simultaneously drive the propeller shaft. The goal is to reduce fuel consumption by 30% and maintenance costs by 20%, while also enabling the use of 100% Sustainable Aviation Fuel.
