According to CCTV News, on the afternoon of February 12 local time, the European Ariane 6 rocket was successfully launched from the Kourou Space Center in French Guiana. The rocket carried 32 satellites for Amazon’s Low Earth Orbit Satellite Program, and all satellites were smoothly deployed into their designated orbits after about two hours.

According to ArianeGroup’s official website, this mission, numbered VA267, is the first of 18 Ariane 6 rocket launches under the agreement with Amazon’s Low Earth Orbit Satellite Program.

ArianeGroup CEO Martin Sion said that this successful launch was the first flight of the four booster versions of the Ariane 6 rocket. The Ariane 6 completed its first launch on July 9, 2024, and this mission is its sixth launch. The rocket has two models, equipped with either two or four boosters.

Amazon’s Low Earth Orbit Satellite Program is a satellite broadband network project under Amazon, originally called the “Kuiper Project.” It initially planned to deploy 3,200 satellites to serve as relay stations for signals via artificial Earth satellites, providing broadband internet access to users. The project was recently approved for expansion, increasing the total number of satellites to approximately 7,700.
