White House Economic Advisor Kevin Hassett told CNBC that U.S. actions in Iran align with China’s interests and hopes China will express gratitude.

He said, “This is an example of two countries sharing the same goal. We want the global oil market to remain stable. When this war ends, I believe it will end soon, and they will definitely sit down to discuss many issues. I hope China can express some appreciation at that time.”

Hassett pointed out that there are concerns that Asia may not export as many refined oil products to the U.S. to compensate for reduced Middle Eastern supplies.

He stated, “We see some signs that they may be reducing exports to ensure their own energy supply is sufficient. We have responses in place for this.”

Sources revealed last week that the Chinese government has ordered refineries to immediately halt March exports of refined oil products to address potential domestic fuel shortages caused by the Middle Eastern conflict.
