Power banks will also see a price increase: rising by 15%-30%
Ask AI · How will the new national standards promote quality upgrades in the power bank industry?
Fast Technology, March 17 — As the new national standards for portable power sources are about to be implemented, the industry is entering a new round of reshuffling. Prices for power banks are expected to rise significantly, with an overall increase of 15%-30%.
Lotu Technology data shows that by 2026, China’s portable power market will reach 48.6 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 9%. The so-called strictest “Safety Technical Specifications for Mobile Power Sources” is scheduled to be officially implemented in June 2026, becoming the new basis for 3C certification.
The new standards set higher requirements for safety indicators such as battery cells, protection circuits, and heat dissipation, eliminating about 70% of inferior capacity, with market share further consolidating toward leading compliant companies.
The new standards shift product competition from price to quality, with rising costs driving up retail prices. At the same time, product lifespan is extended, reducing long-term usage costs.
The popularization of fast-charging technology is also driving product upgrades. By 2026, the penetration rate of fast-charging products over 30W will exceed 60%. Technologies such as multi-port output, wireless charging, and semi-solid-state batteries are being applied to enhance the proportion of mid-to-high-end products.
The industry also faces multiple pressures: the widespread adoption of mobile phones with longer battery life and fast charging reduces daily backup demand; rising raw material and certification costs squeeze profits; product homogenization and lack of consumer confidence also impact industry development.
Industry insiders believe that short-term price increases and reshuffling are inevitable. In the long run, safety compliance, technological innovation, and scenario-based applications will become core competitive advantages.
