OpenAI announces that starting this Friday local time, access to five older versions of ChatGPT models will be discontinued. It is understood that GPT-4o has become a focal point in multiple legal disputes overseas due to issues related to user self-harm, delusional behavior, and the so-called “AI mental illness.” Additionally, this model scored the highest on the “overly catering to users” metric. Besides GPT-4o, GPT-5, GPT-4.1, GPT-4.1 mini, and OpenAI o4-mini are also being phased out.
