Alert! Seeing the continuous flashing messages on the computer screen, the branch duty personnel immediately became alert. The head office monitoring system showed that a customer’s bank account at this branch had unusual activity. Without the customer’s action, their digital RMB wallet was illegally linked, and 1,200 yuan was transferred.

This was a tense scene recently at CITIC Bank Dalian Huangpu Branch. Following routine emergency drill procedures, the branch staff responded quickly, preventing a digital RMB wallet scam caused by customer information leakage, successfully protecting the customer’s funds. Their professional and efficient emergency response earned high praise from the customer.

That morning, after receiving a risk warning from the head office monitoring system, the branch immediately activated the emergency plan. On one hand, the operations staff checked the account status through the system to identify the risk point; on the other hand, branch employees contacted Mr. Lü within three minutes to verify that he did not open the digital RMB wallet, and that his account still had remaining funds at risk. Confirmation showed that Mr. Lü had not registered a digital RMB wallet nor disclosed sensitive information like bank card passwords or SMS verification codes. It was initially judged to be a theft caused by personal information leakage.

To prevent the scammers from further actions, the branch staff guided Mr. Lü over the phone to immediately turn off his phone’s internet to stop further information leakage. Simultaneously, they instructed him to log into the digital RMB app, deactivate the wallet, and freeze the wallet-bank card linkage. Then, staff helped Mr. Lü report his bank card as lost via mobile banking, temporarily disabled non-branch transactions on the account, and strengthened the security of his funds. Considering the case involved information leakage and fraud, the branch proactively assisted Mr. Lü in calling 110 to report the crime, promptly activating the police-bank joint operation mechanism to support subsequent investigation.

“I didn’t expect the bank’s warning to be so timely. If it had been any later, all the money in my account might have been gone!” Afterwards, Mr. Lü specially called the branch to thank them. He admitted he was not familiar with digital RMB operations, and if the bank hadn’t contacted him proactively and responded quickly, the consequences could have been disastrous.

A relevant person from CITIC Bank Dalian Huangpu Branch said that this incident demonstrated the effectiveness of the bank’s routine emergency drills. Through “response within minutes and precise interception,” they effectively safeguarded customer funds and accumulated valuable experience for the financial industry’s fight against digital RMB scam risks.
