From February 3 to 12, 2026, the Fifth Study Group (WP5D) of the Radiocommunication Sector of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) held a meeting in Geneva, Switzerland. This meeting was the seventh session of WP5D for the research cycle of the 2027 World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-27). The conference focused on key future topics and research, including WRC-27 Agenda Item 1.7 (feasibility study for adding new frequency bands for IMT), Agenda Item 1.13 (direct satellite communication with mobile phones), and performance requirements and assessments for future 6G wireless technologies. The meeting also discussed concerns raised by the 3GPP organization regarding the use of terrestrial IMT bands for satellite systems. The Chinese delegation actively participated in the discussions, and the documents submitted by China on Agenda Items 1.7 and 1.13 were adopted and incorporated into the working documents.
