So I've been using this new tab extension for a few weeks now and honestly it's kind of changed how I work. You know that moment when you open a new tab and just see a blank page? Yeah, I used to hate that. I'd end up opening like five more tabs just to get to my search engines, email, to do list, weather app, whatever. Total waste of time.
Turned out there's this thing called CentPage that basically turns your new tab into an actual workspace. Instead of blank screen, you get this clean dashboard with everything you actually use. Multiple search options built in, so you can search Google, YouTube, or whatever from one place. No more bouncing around.
The thing that got me was the widgets. You can add a to do list, clock, weather, notes, quick shortcuts to your favorite sites. Sounds simple but it actually works. Your whole task manager stuff is just sitting there when you open a new tab. I've cut down on opening random tabs by like 30% just because I don't need to hunt for things anymore.
What I like most is it doesn't feel cluttered. A lot of extensions try to do too much and end up being annoying. This one keeps it minimal. You organize your bookmarks into categories, set up your widgets, and that's it. Clean layout, no distractions. The search integration is solid too - you can actually switch between different search engines without leaving your homepage.
Installation was literally just grabbing it from the Chrome Web Store. Takes like two minutes. After that every new tab is your personalized space instead of some generic browser default.
I know it sounds like a small thing, better new tab page, but when you're opening new tabs constantly throughout the day, it adds up. I'm more focused now because I'm not getting distracted hunting for stuff. My digital workspace actually feels organized for once.
If you spend a lot of time in your browser and feel like your workflow could be tighter, might be worth checking out. Especially if you're someone who uses a task manager and search tools constantly. It's basically consolidating all that into one spot so you don't have to think about it. Just open a tab and everything's there.
