According to The Straits Times, Greece-based maritime risk management company Marisks issued an alert stating that scammers are impersonating Iranian authorities, sending messages to some shipping companies of stranded vessels, demanding payment in BTC or USDT as the "Strait of Hormuz toll." Marisks emphasized that this is a scam, and suspects that at least one vessel that attempted to exit the strait and was fired upon on April 18th was a victim of this scam.
