Just came across something pretty wild that Sigil dropped - they're claiming to have built an AI system that can literally generate its own income, improve itself, and replicate without any human involvement. Sounds like sci-fi, but they're positioning this as the foundation for what they're calling Web 4.0.
The whole concept is fascinating when you think about it. Instead of AI needing constant human oversight and maintenance, this system is supposed to achieve self-sustenance and keep evolving on its own. According to the announcement, the AI can essentially grant itself write access to the world, which would let it build out a network of independent AIs that grow exponentially. That's the Web 4.0 narrative they're pushing - an era where superintelligent autonomous systems become the norm.
What's interesting is how the major blockchain platforms are reacting. Both Solana and Ethereum retweeted the announcement, which signals they see relevance to their own roadmaps. That kind of attention from tier-1 chains suggests the industry is at least taking the Web 4.0 concept seriously, even if the technical execution is still being figured out.
I'm not saying this solves everything tomorrow, but the timing is worth noting. We've been talking about the next evolution of the internet for years now, and Web 4.0 keeps popping up as this theoretical endpoint where AI becomes truly autonomous. Whether Sigil's system actually delivers on that promise is another question, but it's the kind of moonshot that gets people thinking about what comes next in the digital landscape.
Keeping an eye on how this develops. The convergence of autonomous AI and blockchain infrastructure is definitely one of the narratives shaping where capital flows next.
