On April 2nd, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Pam Bondi will no longer serve as Attorney General. Bondi becomes the second cabinet member to be dismissed during Trump’s second term. Trump posted on social media that Bondi will transition to work in the private sector, with the specific date to be announced soon, and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanch will serve as acting Attorney General. U.S. media reports indicate that Trump’s dissatisfaction with Bondi has persisted for months, including concerns over her handling of the Epstein files and her lack of toughness in confronting Trump’s political opponents. On March 17th, the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform issued a subpoena to Bondi, demanding her to testify behind closed doors before Congress regarding the Epstein case. According to the subpoena, Bondi is scheduled to testify before the committee on April 14th. Previously, Bondi had attended related hearings but failed to dispel doubts and criticisms from members of both parties in Congress regarding the Department of Justice. (Xinhua)
