ME News Update, April 23 (UTC+8). When the Asian markets opened, performance was very strong and active, especially in Japan and South Korea. But now, some Asian markets have given back part of their gains. All of this points to typical volatility driven by the Iran war. Initially—especially on Wednesday—we saw many investors feel optimistic about the conflict, with hopes that a ceasefire could be maintained and a strong desire to end the war. Investors often make decisions based on what will happen next, so we saw those stock markets rise to record highs. Now, especially as these attacks are still ongoing, with no peace talks planned and no clear path to truly end the conflict, some cautious sentiment has returned, so we see these stock markets falling back to lower levels.
