The China-Laos 500 kV interconnection project officially goes into operation

According to Southern Power Grid, on the 20th, the major project of the China-Laos Community of Shared Future Action Plan—the China-Laos 500 kV interconnection project—was officially put into operation. The China-Laos 500 kV interconnection project connects Yunnan Province in China with Oudomxay Province and Luang Namtha Province in Laos, with a total transmission line length of 177.5 kilometers, including 145 kilometers in China and 32.5 kilometers in Laos. As an important channel for electricity interconnection between China and Laos, after the project is operational, the electricity mutual assistance capacity between the two countries can be increased to 1.5 million kilowatts, which is 30 times the original line capacity, and it can transmit about 3 billion kilowatt-hours of clean energy annually, strongly supporting China and Laos in achieving larger-scale and broader-range clean energy optimization.
