I just found out that Citrea is organizing its first community event in Seoul today, and honestly, it's a pretty strategic move. The Bitcoin ZK-Rollup project is seriously aiming to penetrate the South Korean market, which, as we know, is one of the top three crypto markets worldwide.
What’s interesting here is that Citrea launched its mainnet recently, in January, and is already making moves to expand geographically. The event will feature a presentation by Esad Yusuf Atik, the project's co-founder and CTO, so we expect technical insights into how their rollup solution works.
The real value lies in what Citrea is trying to solve: significantly improving Bitcoin transaction performance and reducing costs. Their approach uses zk-STARKs to enhance both security and scalability, positioning it as a serious contender in the Bitcoin Layer 2 ecosystem.
South Korea is the perfect place for this. They have a sophisticated investor base and an active developer community that is constantly seeking new scaling solutions. Additionally, the recent creation of the Citrea Foundation suggests that the project is committed to decentralized governance and long-term development — it’s not just a temporary experiment.
These kinds of moves in the Bitcoin rollup space are what will truly define how Layer 2 evolves in the coming years. It’s worth keeping a close eye on what comes out of this event in Seoul.
