Iranian officials: Iran and Oman plan to jointly oversee ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz

According to two news reports from Iran, Iran and Oman are drafting an agreement aimed at jointly implementing “transit supervision” for the transportation of vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz, but both sides simultaneously emphasize that they will not restrict the passage of ships. Gharib Abadi, Deputy Minister of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Legal Affairs and International Affairs, said that Iran is currently finalizing the relevant agreement draft, and once it is confirmed, Iran will hold talks with the Oman side to reach a joint protocol. The agreement will enter into force after the current war between Iran and the U.S. and Israel ends, to set basic rules for managing vessel passage. (CCTV News)
