Kalibaf, paired with Araghchi, who also has a war background, is considered by Iran to be an efficient diplomatic team capable of overseeing the overall situation.

The spokesperson clearly pointed out that the nuclear issue is no longer the main focus; the current negotiation priority is a complete ceasefire, with the primary task of safeguarding the country’s core interests. Shortly after this statement was issued, reports from Israel indicated that due to intervention by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Kalibaf has resigned from the Iranian negotiation team.
