Hormel sells whole-bird turkey business, keeps JENNIE-O brand

Hormel Foods has completed the sale of its whole-bird turkey business to Life-Science Innovations (LSI), as announced on February 26. While LSI acquired the Melrose production facility, a Swanville feed mill, and related assets, Hormel retains ownership of the JENNIE-O brand and its value-added turkey product portfolio, including the right to sell JENNIE-O OVEN READY whole birds. This divestiture aligns with Hormel’s strategy to focus on value-added protein products and reduce exposure to commodity-driven businesses, though the financial terms were not disclosed.
