Lately I've been thinking about a question: do we really need to keep emphasizing the concept of "Layer 1" and "Layer 2" hierarchies?

Honestly, I think this terminology framework might already be outdated. More and more people are discussing L2 scaling solutions and L2 ecosystem development, but essentially we're still talking about different application layers on the same blockchain.

Instead of being obsessed with the distinction between L1 and L2, it's better to accept a reality: this is Ethereum. Whether interacting with the mainnet or through L2 solutions, users are ultimately within the Ethereum ecosystem. Security, settlement, asset ownership—everything fundamentally returns to Ethereum.

I believe that if we can abandon this artificial layered labeling, it might be easier to understand Ethereum's true value. It’s a unified ecosystem, with various solutions operating on top of it, but fundamentally, it’s all one.
