Sources from the Pakistani military told Xinhua reporters on the 24th that Iranian Foreign Minister Alaghazi is expected to arrive in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, later that day or early the next morning, to discuss the preconditions for negotiations between Iran and the United States with the Pakistani side. The sources said that the relevant topics include lifting the blockade on Iran, releasing detained ships and crew members, ensuring the lifting of sanctions on Iran, and unfreezing Iran’s frozen assets. Iran hopes that the U.S. will take steps to build mutual trust first, especially by relaxing the blockade and releasing some assets. The sources said that if progress is made, Iran expects to hold further direct negotiations with U.S. representatives. However, according to CNN, citing U.S. sources, the Iranian delegation’s visit to Islamabad will not include meetings with U.S. representatives. (Xinhua News Agency)
