Trump announces extension of ceasefire period, maintaining maritime blockade while awaiting Iran's submission of a plan

On April 21st, local time, U.S. President Trump posted on his social media platform “Truth Social” that at the request of the Pakistani Army Chief of Staff and Prime Minister, the U.S. will temporarily delay military strikes against Iran. Trump stated that, due to “serious divisions” within the Iranian government, the U.S. has decided to extend the ceasefire and has asked Iran to first propose a unified negotiation plan. During this period, the U.S. military will continue to enforce a maritime blockade against Iran while maintaining military readiness. He said the ceasefire will last until Iran submits a plan and negotiations are completed, “regardless of the outcome.” (CCTV News)
