White House dinner gunman background disclosure: Donated to Trump’s opponent as an independent, transforming from an engineering top student into a lone wolf
BlockBeats news: On April 26, further information about the background of the gunman Cole Thomas Allen at the United States White House Correspondents’ Association dinner has been disclosed. He is currently 31 years old and is from Torrance, California. He has no prior criminal record and is not within the scope of surveillance by U.S. law enforcement. He has been initially identified as a “lone wolf” attacker. Allen graduated from the California Institute of Technology in 2017 and obtained a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. In 2025, he obtained a master’s degree in computer science from California State University, Dominguez Hills. On LinkedIn, he described himself as “a mechanical engineer and computer scientist by background, an independent game developer by experience, and a teacher by vocation.” He had worked as a part-time teacher for many years at the college entrance examination tutoring organization C2 Education. In December 2024, he was named “Teacher of the Month” at the Torrance branch of that organization. He also developed an independent game called “Bohrdom,” which was released on the Steam platform in 2018.
Allen, as someone who has been working in the fields of education and technology, has participated in activities such as the Caltech Christian Fellowship and the Nerf Club. In the run-up to the 2024 U.S. presidential election, he made small donations to Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris (Kamala Harris) in his capacity as a teacher, and registered to vote as “nonpartisan.” According to his LinkedIn information, Allen also interned at NASA in 2014 and took part in the development of intelligent models for planetary mapping.
