Iran has not requested an extension of the ceasefire, officials say the U.S. move is to buy time to launch a surprise attack.

Early morning of April 22 local time, Iran announced that Iran did not request an extension of the ceasefire. In response to U.S. President Trump’s earlier statement about extending the ceasefire period, the advisor to the Speaker of the Iranian Islamic Parliament stated on social media, “Trump’s proposed extension of the ceasefire is meaningless. The loser has no right to set conditions. Continued blockade and bombing are no different; they must be responded to with military means. Moreover, Trump’s proposal to extend is clearly aimed at buying time to launch a surprise attack. Now is the time for Iran to take the initiative.” (CCTV News)
