Iran has not requested a ceasefire extension, Iranian officials say the U.S. is buying time to launch an attack

On April 22nd local time, Iran announced that it did not request an extension of the ceasefire. In response to U.S. President Trump’s earlier statement about extending the ceasefire period, an advisor to the Speaker of the Iranian Islamic Parliament stated on social media, “Trump’s proposed extension of the ceasefire is meaningless. The loser has no right to set conditions. Continued blockade and bombing are no different; they must be responded to with military means. Moreover, Trump’s proposal to extend is clearly an attempt to buy time to launch a surprise attack. Now is the time for Iran to take the initiative.” (CCTV News)
