ME News Report, April 14 (UTC+8),
An American official and an informed source revealed that the United States proposed during negotiations held in Islamabad last weekend that Iran accept a 20-year uranium enrichment suspension.
Iran, on the other hand, proposed a shorter period, in the single-digit year range.
Sources said that the U.S. demanded a uranium enrichment pause as a key issue in this marathon-style negotiation.
“On the U.S. side, they proposed at least a 20-year suspension, along with various other restrictions,” said a knowledgeable source.
The U.S. also demanded that Iran move all highly enriched uranium out of the country.
Iran stated that they are willing to accept “monitoring and down-blending procedures” for these materials.
