Today is the first day of the Qingming holiday. China Mobile’s Wutong Big Data analysis found that this year, some primary and secondary school spring breaks overlap with the Qingming holiday, sparking people’s enthusiasm for traveling. It is expected that the overall travel population during the Qingming holiday will grow by 6% compared with the same period last year. It is reported that places including Jiangsu, Sichuan, Anhui, and Guizhou have scheduled their spring breaks for April 1 to 3, connected with the Qingming holiday, forming a consecutive 6-day holiday. Starting April 1, the travel population in the spring-break regions will increase by 41% compared with the same period last year.

Wang Jibin, General Manager of the Data and Process Management Department of China Mobile Digital Intelligence Business Division: “Judging from travel types, domestic trips account for 46% and cross-province trips account for 54%. Among them, the proportion of cross-province travelers has increased by 12 percentage points compared with the same period last year. Overall, the extension of the holiday has expanded people’s travel radius. Data shows that since the spring break, visitor volumes at places in the spring-break regions such as museums, key scenic areas, patriotic education bases, and theme parks have grown by 18% compared with the same period last year.” (CCTV News)
