Iran's Supreme Leader to meet with Putin for the first time in August

According to a report by RIA Novosti today (April 25), Iran’s ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, said that Iran has not canceled plans for this year’s Caspian Sea summit to be held in Tehran. If conditions allow, the summit will be held, and Iran’s supreme leader, Mujtaba Khamenei, and Russian President Vladimir Putin may hold their first meeting during the summit. In December 2025, Iranian President Pezeshkian announced that the Caspian Sea summit will be held in Tehran on August 12, 2026. Caspian Sea littoral countries such as Iran, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan will attend. (CCTV International News)
