Q: On April 23rd, the European Union announced the listing of Chinese companies in the 20th round of sanctions against Russia. What is China’s comment on this?
A: The EU, disregarding multiple representations and objections from China, recklessly listed Chinese companies in the 20th round of sanctions against Russia. China expresses strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition to this.
China has repeatedly reiterated its firm opposition to unilateral sanctions not authorized by the United Nations Security Council and its firm opposition to the EU’s so-called extraterritorial jurisdiction over Chinese companies and individuals.
This move by the EU runs counter to the consensus reached by China and Europe leaders and severely damages mutual trust and the overall bilateral relationship.
China urges the EU to immediately remove Chinese companies and individuals from the sanctions list and to abide by the consensus reached by the leaders of both sides, seeking solutions to their concerns through dialogue and consultation.
China will take necessary measures to firmly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies, and all consequences will be borne by the EU.
