Iranian media reports that the undersea cable in the Strait of Hormuz may be at risk

Golden Finance reported that on April 22, Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency said again on Wednesday that Gulf Arab countries may still face the risk of submarine data cables in the Strait of Hormuz being cut. Tasnim News Agency reported, “If multiple main cables are damaged at the same time—whether due to accidents or deliberate sabotage—it could lead to severe internet outages in the Persian Gulf.” Multiple cables run through the Strait of Hormuz. The Gulf region has previously experienced internet disruptions after submarine cables in the Red Sea were cut multiple times. Yemen’s Houthis have also previously issued threats regarding the cables. (Associated Press)
